Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed the company's safety standards.
- Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices and other standards.
- Read and fully understand P&ID's and other documents which describe the scope of work to be done.
- Read and understand the plant's engineering specifications, standards, guidelines, and other technical documents related to the discipline.
- Familiarity with industry codes such as ASME, API, and others related to piping and mechanical design in industrial environments.
- Interface with engineers, operators, maintenance, environmental, and other personnel at the plant site to understand the design considerations for the site.
- Guide more junior piping and mechanical designers in their design work.
- Provide piping & mechanical design for capital and service projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Guide site employees through reviews of piping and mechanical designs to obtain input prior to issuance for construction.
- Issue construction complete construction packages.
- Field as-builts, measurements, and design as project requires.
- Assist with material take-offs and construction estimating.
Qualifications
20+ years industrial experience working in the design field, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry.Willing and capable of operating in a self-directed manner to drive the design process forward.Able to understand and act when the part of the project hits a roadblock.Able to travel to and operate independently at other plant sites to gather information for designs.Highly experienced in the design of piping & mechanical systems as used in chemical manufacturing facilities.Outdoor design experience; able to wear required PPE and travel safely to job sites for field measurement / as-built drawings.Good communication skills, both verbal and written.Good negotiation skills and a proactive approach to solving problems and getting the job done.Self-motivated / Self-directed.Proficiency in MicroStation.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.About Us
