We're growing—and looking for passionate Controls Engineers to help us push boundaries in the world of advanced automation. If you're ready to take on technical challenges and lead with impact, we have a place for you on our team.

As a Controls Engineer with us, you'll design and program cutting-edge automation systems—supporting everything from concept to install. Depending on your experience, we have opportunities available at the mid-level (Engineer II) and senior level (Engineer III).

This role will be onsite in our facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Unfortunately we do not provide relocation assistance for this role.

What You'll Do as a Mid-Level – Controls Engineer II

  • Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Program PLCs and HMIs to customer specifications
  • Define I / O for PLCs and robots
  • Path program 1+ robot platforms
  • Troubleshoot and support system startups
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
  • Perform basic pneumatic / electrical calculations
  • Create standards and templates

Successful Mid-Level Candidates Will Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in controls engineering
  • Proficiency with Studio5000, FT View, Fanuc, ABB, AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with Siemens, Omron, GE, or E-Plan is a plus
  • What You'll Do as a Senior Level – Controls Engineer III

  • Lead design of controls systems : schematics, software, pneumatics
  • Program complex PLC / HMI / Vision / Motion systems
  • Mentor, support, and manage personnel across departments
  • Drive project execution : timing, budget, and standards
  • Guide the department's technical direction
  • Travel 20–40% for customer installations and support
  • Successful Senior Level Candidates Should Have

  • 7+ years of controls experience in automation
  • Strong knowledge of Studio5000, FT View, Fanuc, ABB, and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Bonus points for MES, SCADA, Andon experience
  • Confidence managing cross-functional teams and outsourced partners
