Construction Inspector

JMT is currently seeking qualified, experienced and highly motivated individuals to assist in overseeing and inspecting construction of roadway and site improvement projects primarily involving construction of stormwater, water and sewer facilities in the southeast Pennsylvania region. The Construction Inspector will act as the client's representative working closely with our clients (Philadelphia Water Dept., City of Philadelphia, PennDOT, SEPTA, etc.), under the direction of the client's Construction Manager to : verify that proper contract adherence and inspection requirements are met; attend / conduct project control meetings; document work progress; and monitor construction quality and safety. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT / OPT / STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Independently plan, coordinate, inspect and / or oversee day-to-day project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance through review, interpretation and enforcement of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
- Review and maintain all pertinent project documentation (inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders, estimates, etc.) and verify that it accurately details construction progress, activities and materials, meets environmental permitting conditions, comply with safety policies and programs, and monitors EEO and DBE progress and performance
- Attend pre-bid, pre-construction and / or management level meetings throughout the course of the project, assist the client with issuance of project correspondences, and provide updates to the client of construction progress and issues
- Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues
Work schedule varies according to project assignments, contract restrictions, and / or contractors' schedule, may include night work, weekends and holidays.

Thorough knowledge and considerable experience in maintenance & protection of traffic, earthwork, roadway, structure and bridge, and / or maintenance construction techniques, plans reading, procedures, methods, equipment and materialsA working knowledge of stormwater drainage and management facilities, water / sewer utilities, erosion and sediment control construction practices is desiredExcellent communication and writing skills to facilitate interaction between inspection staff, contractor personnel and owner representativesProficient in Microsoft Office softwareActive driver's license and reliable vehicle are required for significant local travel to and from work locationsMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningRequired Experience
