Accounting ManagerPosition Summary
Location : Brentwood, TN Department : AccountingSalary Range : $100 - $125K
Role Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets, including property and development accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective collaboration with property management, development teams, and senior leadership.
Core Responsibilities Property & Development Accounting
- Manage all accounting activities for property and development projects, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.
- Maintain precise tracking of project costs, capital investments, and operating expenses.
- Review and occasionally prepare financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets for assigned properties and developments.
- Validate reconciliations for bank accounts, reserves, escrows, and fixed assets.
- Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting with property and development teams.
- Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of NNN expense reconciliations to tenants via property management.
- Support external audits and fulfill reporting obligations for lenders and partners.
- Oversee fund-level accounting and review third-party prepared reports for multifamily and fund-related projects.
Accounts Receivable
Supervise rent collection, tenant billing, and overall receivables process.Ensure timely posting of cash receipts, deposits, and tenant payment setups.Monitor aging schedules, bad debt reserves, and perform variance analysis.Identify and implement improvements for receivables tracking and reporting.Accounts Payable
Direct invoice processing, batching, and payment execution to ensure accuracy and timeliness.Manage vendor onboarding, invoice workflows, and weekly disbursement cycles.Reconcile outgoing payments with bank records and assist with month-end close.Handle urgent payment requests while maintaining compliance with company policies.Leadership & Compliance
Lead and mentor accounting staff, including property and development accountants and AR / AP specialists.Ensure adherence to GAAP, SOX, and applicable tax and financial regulations.Continuously refine accounting policies, procedures, and systems for efficiency.Act as a primary contact for auditors, legal advisors, and executive leadership.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA preferred).Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in commercial real estate.Strong expertise in property and development accounting, AR / AP processes.Proficiency with accounting platforms (e.g., MRI, AvidXchange).Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.Skills & Attributes
