We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Counselor!
The Financial Counselor is responsible for role modeling for the counselors in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice, and facility policy, goals, and objectives.
This position contributes to the hospitals philosophy, objectives, educational and quality improvement efforts while providing guidance to the Financial Counselors.
The essential job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed.
- Verifying benefits and eligibility on admission inquiries
- Preparing patient folders for admissions
- Meet with patient / family to discuss estimated balance due and to collect payment or set up payment plan with Guarantor
- Coordinate with the utilization review department on discharge planning efforts to limit the risk of non-payment, providing ongoing patient benefit information, participating in patient discharge procedures, and coordinating financial arrangements with collection personnel
- Ensure that financial forms are completed and scanned into the patient's account
- Complete account audit to ensure data entered is accurate in the billing system
- Follow up on payment plans timely and consistent for payments due
- Assist patients with hardships paperwork and required supporting documentation
Qualifications
Qualifications :
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in admission processes and collections procedures, and a working knowledge of managed care;
interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments, and deductible schedules and payment plans
- Working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Excel) preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, billing practices and coding, is required
- Must have excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must posses patient interview techniques
- Must have the ability to work under minimal supervision, is detail oriented and possess problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to meet our Covid 19 vaccination requirements.
Additional Requirements : Successful completion of CPR / First Aid certification and CPI training within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.
May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours. Must be able to meet our Covid 19 vaccination requirements.
