Position Summary

An Electrical estimator 1 carries out all duties required to properly estimate Electrical projects. An estimator should be able to determine how long each contracting job will last, researching market prices for project materials and equipment and communicating with clients to determine the scope of each project.

You should be able to identify ways to continually improve cost-estimating procedures to reduce inconsistencies between estimate and actual project costs.

They also possess verbal and writing communication skills and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs of electrical and low voltage systems.
• Prepare detailed estimates including assigning material and labor values to take-offs through Accubid software.
• Acquire vendor pricing on specialty materials including, but not limited to, lighting, power, FA, low voltage.
• Evaluate and assist with subcontractor and vendor scope and pricing review.
• Participate and or coordinate in project turn-over meetings (Job Beat Up) pre bid.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by Senior Estimator.
• Maintains positive working relationships with clients, building owners, contractors, consultants, vendors and partners.

Mainly via telephone.

• Show an understanding of electrical equipment, installation means, and terminology.
• Review, and become familiar with project plans, specifications , and other contract documents this would encompass all drawing not just the electrical sheets.
• Review quotations for accuracy, best value and availability.
• Establish relationships with clients, as well as vendors and subs.
• Must be available by cell phone during business hours.

Qualifications / Skills Required

• High School or equivalent
• Should have at least 5-7 year’s work experience preferable as a Service Manager or as an electrician in the field.
• Organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including personal, written and telephone communications.
• Experience with general office procedures.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, Mail Merges, labeling, and other related software.
• Experience with automated business planning and control systems, Foundation, etc.
• Ability to research and solve problems resulting from the nature of task assigned.
• Positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction.
