My client is giant in the defense and aerospace industry and are responsible for remote piloted aircraft and radar.
They are looking for guidance, navigation, and flight control engineers with expertise in control law design and analysis, as well as in the creation of flight-critical software.
Candidates should be experienced in every stage of a new aircraft development program, including developing requirements, designing from a clean slate, integrating and validating software, planning flight tests, and analysing flight data from prototype tests.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Down mission use cases into control system requirements that meet MIL Spec standards.
- Set up a flight control subsystem test bench to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Advanced control theory to specialized projects.
- The selection, development, integration, and flight testing of COTS autopilot systems in smaller scale flight vehicles.
- Analytical tools as needed for advanced configurations.
- GNC tasks for all phases of new aircraft development, including requirements development, clean-sheet design, software integration and validation, flight test planning, and analysis of flight data from prototype tests.
- Discrete flight control laws and perform classical stability analysis, Lyapunov stability analysis, and flying qualities analysis.
- Flight control avionics physics, aerodynamic characteristics, and mass properties of a conceptual aircraft into MATLAB scripts and Simulink models for real-time simulation.
- MATLAB / Simulink models for automatic code generation.
- Verify and validate embedded control law software on both simulated and actual hardware.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Over 6 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, over 4 years with a master's degree, or over 2 years with a PhD.
- A degree in aerospace / aeronautical, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field is highly preferred.
- In-depth technical expertise and application of engineering principles, with strong organizational skills to plan, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines and milestones.
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply them accurately in a dynamic environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various departments, customers, government representatives, and professionals.
- Must be customer-focused, able to work independently or as part of a team, and willing to work extended hours and travel as necessary.
- Experienced in automatic code generation using the MathWorks toolset.
- Skilled in coding with C or C++ programming languages.
- Proficient in following a rigorous software process for flight code production.
- Comfortable collaborating with a team of subject matter experts.
- Superior documentation and communication skills.
- Proficient in MATLAB scripting, Simulink model programming, and Stateflow model programming.
