Job Summary :

Service Technicians assist the Service Director and inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles. Technicians use diagnostic tools to identify the source of problems and then make adjustments or repairs. As with all positions within dealerships, Technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

Essential Functions :

• Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
• Diagnoses the cause of malfunctions and performs work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and / or factory standards.
• Repairs or replaces all parts of a vehicle including wheels, axles, frames, defective ball joint suspensions, and brake shoes; installs and repairs air conditioners and services components such as compressors, condensers, and controls; tests electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure that they are working properly.
• Communicates directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed.
• Provides an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
• Inspects and tests new vehicles for damage and records findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
• Supervises and trains apprentice or entry-level Technicians.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
• Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
