Safety / Security Sensitive Designation :

This is a safety / security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

Responsibilities

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Maintain the inventory of automotive parts, supplies and materials for the fleet equipment storeroom. Identify competitive vendors, compare prices for cost-effectiveness, evaluate the quality and suitability of materials and supplies and recommend an appropriate vendor.
• Receive, inspect and stock automotive parts and materials in the proper bin or storage area to ensure safety and expedite identification.
• Maintain and assign a valid identification number on all parts and bin locations.
• Issue automotive parts and materials to technicians and other Fleet Operations personnel, while providing professional customer service. Recommend alternative solutions to the technicians' requests for parts and supplies needed in accordance with parts catalogs and service manuals.
• Check and compare invoices of parts and materials received for accuracy of orders. Contact vendors and distributors to verify charges for items received to ensure proper credit for items returned or not delivered.
• Perform scheduled inventories, as directed by the supervisor, to ensure adequate stock levels of automotive parts, supplies and materials and determine cost value of items on hand. Reorder items as appropriate, purge obsolete or slow moving inventory and correct and report any inventory discrepancies to supervisor.
• Assist in monitoring warranty information on parts purchased.
• Enter all information concerning parts received or issued into the Fleet information management system.
• Update and maintain current parts manual for all Fleet units.
• Serve as backup to the Fleet Operations Clerk to pick up parts.
• Assist in initiating computer-based work orders from PM list and operator write up.
• Operate a fork lift.
• Order, catalog and assist in purchasing company-supplied tools needed for vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Perform secondary duties as assigned.
