JOB SUMMARY : Under direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician, performs nursing services in the care and treatment of patients.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Graduation from an accredited LPN training program required. Previous experience as an LPN in a clinical or other health care setting preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and / or REGISTRATION : Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care, Adult ED Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU and NICU, and other areas per unit guidelines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS : Good interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and protocols Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment Knowledge of computer systems and applications

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Combination of medical office and exam / procedure room settings Well-lighted, well-ventilated, and adequate space Frequent exposure to diseases, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Standing, Walking, Sitting, Bending, Reaching with arms, Finger and hand dexterity, Talking, Hearing, Seeing Lifting, carrying, pushing and or pulling : 20 lbs. maximum, 50 lbs. maximum, 100 lbs. maximum
