The School for the Future of Innovation in Society is seeking a Senior Program Manager to manage the ASU activities under the new Center for Community Energy and Environmental Justice (CCEEJ). ASU is a key partner in CCEEJ, in collaboration with San Diego State University and a host of other organizations. This center is focused on building the capacity and skills of communities and organizations across Region 9 of the US Environmental Protection Agency to apply for and successfully receive federal funding for community-based environmental, climate, and energy justice (ECEJ) projects. In particular, this technical capacity will be built for communities and organizations applying to the $550 million EPA Thriving Communities program. ASU is focused on building this capacity across Arizona, and in Maricopa County in particular. ECEJ issues in Arizona include, but are not limited to heat and climate resilience, energy insecurity, water scarcity and pollution, soil and air pollution, and industrial facility siting.
Delivering impactful services to communities and organizations will involve community engagement, education, training, network building, and program management, all of which will be done in conjunction with partners across the Center. Outputs will include workshop and training materials, white papers, guidance documents, analysis reports, and journal publications. Outcomes will include improving understanding of ECEJ challenges in Arizona, building regional capacity to assess and address ECEJ challenges, and identifying and avoiding new ECEJ challenges and crises.
