As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff and visitors to the health care client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors and premises. Protects staff and property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for violence in the workplace. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified car team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. Protects staff and property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for violence in the workplace. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified care team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

Pay: $43.00 PER HOUR

Travel required: Travel on an occasional basis with some overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation and be available for unplanned travel.

Facility Safety & Incident Response

• Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action

• Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy

• Lead Code Gray response teams

• Lead de-escalation efforts

• Provide a professional security presence

• Act as a safety ambassador for the facility

• Provide campus safety recommendations

• Liaison with administrative and clinical leadership

• Establish and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement

Prevention of Workplace Violence (PWV)

• Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence

• Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence

• Provide PWV training to all staff

• Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field

Threat Management

• Lead and support threat management investigations

• Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team

Training

• Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff

• Train and evaluate new officers

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated success working in a highly regulated work environment

• Must be able to accurately analyze situations in a highly complex organizational structure and reach appropriate decisions based on informed judgment

• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented

• Must effectively manage subordinates

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information

• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple sources in a fast-paced environment

• Demonstrated ability to follow through, meet deadlines, anticipate requirements, and build relationships with minimal oversight

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and employ strong reasoning skills

• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision

• Demonstrated comfort level with internal systems or demonstrated ability to learn new systems

• Excellent time management and organization skills

• PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Must present as approachable, open, professional, and positive

• Must be willing to travel on short notice and during non-standard working hours

3+ years - Security, military, or law enforcement related experience.
HS Diploma or GED

• Valid Driver’s License
• California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS) Guard Card
• Ability to pass a physical agility test
