Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position, requiring flexibility to work in all PCU and Med-Surg units and current BLS, ACLS, and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position is resource pool RN floating between all PCU and Med-Surg units in a hospital setting
  • Staffing assignments reviewed and may change every 4 hours based on hospital needs
  • Night shift schedule is 3x12 hour shifts (6 : 45pm - 7 : 15am), with 4x12 available upon request
  • Patient ratios are 5 : 1 for PCU and 6-7 : 1 for Med-Surg
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Main responsibilities include providing PCU and Med-Surg nursing care as assigned throughout the hospital
  • Expect to float between units every 4 hours as determined by staffing office
  • Travelers are required to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment, and two holidays during winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas / Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve / New Year's)
  • Module-based orientation is provided and typically compensated after completion
  • All time-off requests must be submitted up front; no Christmas requests can be approved
  • No local candidates are accepted within a 100-mile radius based on the address on the driver's license
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

    • Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required
  • Must have experience with Epic EMR
  • Must be comfortable floating to all PCU and Med-Surg units
  • Two references required for consideration
  • Copy of driver’s license and Social Security card required
  • Previous employees must be separated for at least one year before returning as travelers
  • Candidates living within 100 miles are considered local and are not eligible, unless residing 50-99.9 miles away, in which case one 13-week assignment is allowed without extension
