Overview

The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Social Worker / Counselor is responsible for the clinical assessment, mental health treatment and clinical care of children, adolescents and their families for clients of CASD.

This individual is responsible for the ability to use individual, group, family, and child guidance and parent-child therapy modalities appropriately, flexibly, and creatively.

The CASD Social Worker / Counselor will also possess the ability to provide interventions in the school setting, natural environment and other community facilities.

This individual will provide culturally competent services in all areas. Demonstrated competencies defined (*) below in providing age appropriate care to pediatric and select adult patients.

Responsibilities

1. *Provides direct services to children and families using the most appropriate treatment modalities.

2. Meets regularly with Team Leader or Clinical Manager.

3. Attends routine staff meetings.

4. Participates and or provides input to appropriate committees and team meetings.

5. Maintains quality assurance standards which include timely and accurate record keeping.

6. Attends in-service training, peer review and other intra-agency and supervisory activities.

7. Participates in staff development or conferences to maintain appropriate licensure and credentialing.

8. Maintains productivity standards.

9. Provides timely statistical data for computerized accounting of billable activities.

10. *Provides diagnostic information for reporting of treatment outcomes.

11. *Strives to maintain positive patient satisfaction.

12. *Provides interventions in school settings, natural environment and other community facilities.

13. Provides feedback to referral sources as appropriate.

14. Participates in culturally diverse programs sponsored by NCHGC or community.

15. Supports the philosophy, goals and mission of Nationwide Children’s Hospital Guidance Centers and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

16. Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader or Clinical Manager.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school.
  • Appropriate Ohio licensure applicable.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing care to children and families, with experience in providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities, especially autism spectrum disorders, and their families.
  • Excellent communication or interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families and community professionals.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Physical requirements may include but not be restricted to strength to perform minimal lifting and ability to manage behavioral episodes, standing, walking, sitting, driving, hearing, and seeing.

These requirements may occur from occasional use to frequent depending on the client served. Sitting : Constantly (67-100%) Talking on phone / in person : Constantly (67-100%) Typing on a keyboard : Occasionally (0-33%) Standing / walking : Occasionally (0-33%) Driving Occasionally (0-33%) Managing behavioral episodes Rarely (0-5%)
