Job Description\n\nThe Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.\n\n?? Location : McKay Dee Hospital – Ogden, Utah\n\n?? • Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs, while providing excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.\n
• Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.\n
• May perform telemetry duties as required based on the unit, and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients, addressing patient care needs, and collaborating with other members of the patient care team as required.\n
• Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required when working on a clinical unit.\n
• Collaborate and consult with the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.\n
• May assume the responsibilities of a health unit coordinator, including answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, organizing, stocking, and maintaining unit supplies.\n
• Implements plan of care as delegated.\n
• Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice. Performs specialized procedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards.\n

• Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of practice.\n
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.\n
• Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills.\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAt the time of hire, Utah candidates must meet one of the following certification requirements : \n
• Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of Utah.\n
• If CNA certificate is expired, must be renewed before start date.\n
• Completion of a recent Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program.\n
• Verification of CNA program completion is required (program must have been completed within the past year).\n
• CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire.\n
• Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing Course.\n
• Must have earned a passing grade within the past two (2) years. Official transcript is required.\n
• CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n
• Previous experience as a (C.N.A) Patient Care Tech in a hospital setting.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.\n
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.\n
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.\n
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.\n
• Need to walk and assist with transporting / ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing / pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)\n
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.\n
