Job description

Sr Financial Analyst

The Sr Financial Analyst serves as a strategic finance partner to the General Manager, delivering insights that drive both short-term results and long-term growth. This role is accountable for building budgets and forecasts, producing monthly financial packages, and delivering clear analysis of performance drivers across the business. Areas of focus include sales and customer profitability, operating expenses, headcount, and operational efficiency. The role blends day-to-day reporting with forward-looking analysis to support decision-making and business strategy. This position reports directly to Vice President Finance - Packaging at our Liberty Packaging location in Golden Valley, MN.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Partner with the General Manager to provide actionable financial insight and guidance on business performance.
  • Lead annual budget and periodic forecast cycles, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial results packages, including detailed commentary on variances and business drivers.
  • Analyze P&L by customer, product, and channel to identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Track and report operational performance metrics, ensuring alignment between financial results and production / operations.
  • Monitor operating expenses and headcount, providing transparency and recommendations for cost management.
  • Provide snapshot reporting (budget vs. actual, year-over-year) and trend analysis to highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Sales, and other teams to strengthen the link between financial results and operational drivers.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Education, Experience and Skills :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A or a similar analytical role.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems.
  • Expert financial modeling and forecasting skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to interpret complex data, identify key insights, and present insights to leadership.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making and collaborate across functions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :

  • Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools to create dashboards and trend reports.
  • Familiarity with Amtech, JD Edwards, or other ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of customer profitability analysis, cost structure management, and margin improvement practices.
  • Background in manufacturing, distribution, or a similar industry.
  • Compensation & Benefits :

    The starting base salary range for this position is $88,226 - $110,282 per year plus eligibility in annual bonus program. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and / or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses or deferred compensation options.
