As an Underwriter for Energy Casualty at The Hartford, your primary role will be to underwrite and actively pursue new business pricing, servicing the needs of our brokerage partners on an account by account basis. You will analyze the agency book on a quarter-to-quarter basis for potential action and you will coach and mentor staff on your team, providing support to junior underwriters.

Responsibilities

• Agency Management : Manage higher volume and / or higher total written premium goals; create, drive, and execute strategies for new and renewal accounts; consult and provide solutions; deliver excellent account management service; tailor service plans to client needs; influence final account pricing and terms; support retention; lead in communicating strategy to the agency and educate others on the strategy; coach and mentor others on Agency Management; act as a trusted advisor to agents and brokers; manage the book of business.
• Sales : Establish and maintain pipeline; manage cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the team; manage the sales process (planning, routines, monitoring); source opportunities for team members; coach and mentor others on sales practices; articulate The Hartford value proposition; hold internal and external customers accountable.
• Service : Consult with agents to answer questions regarding coverage and processes; direct and coordinate identified service issues; recommend service improvements and provide feedback to service leaders; underwrite highly complex business with limited senior underwriter support.

Qualifications

The Hartford is proud to offer our teammates a hybrid work environment. Selected candidate must be located in commuting distance to one of the listed locations and have the ability to travel within the assigned region given the broker-facing sales nature of this role.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is : $98,000 - $196,800.

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
