MMChr is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our top-notch Team. Payroll Responsibilities Include :

  • Payroll data entry : process, calculate, post for weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly payrolls as assigned
  • Ensure payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ability to compile payroll data such as garnishments, adjustments, vacation time, sick time, and deductions
  • Capacity to review time & attendance information for completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and generate payroll reports
  • Process garnishments, new hires, employee changes, terminations and deductions
  • Compliance with policy, state and regulatory requirements
  • Reviews computed wages and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.
  • Preparing payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
  • Process manual checks as requested
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll. Become a subject matter expert on all state-by-state regulations such as minimum wages, state leave deductions, SUI percentage requirements.
  • Ensures that tax withholding, and deductions are done correctly and with accuracy.
  • Maintain a high degree of consistency and uniformity with how information / data is recorded across all entities.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and filings in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Calculating pay raises, shift payments, and overtime compensation
  • Calculating wages and salaries for clients
  • Issuing tax forms and related documentation and assisting clients to complete them accordingly
  • Issuing client employee wages by check or electronic transfer
  • Review details of terminating employees and ensure accurate processing of all final paychecks
  • Ensure conformance to company policies (proper administration of employee classifications, paid time off policies, application of pay and / or overtime, reimbursements, deductions, etc.).
  • Assist clients with payroll-related requests, such as tax forms, direct deposit, and wage calculations

Benefits Responsibilities Include :

  • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
  • Design, recommend and implement new benefits programs. Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing with team.
  • Administer various employee benefit programs, such as group health benefits, flex spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401L, and wellness benefits
  • Coordinate the processing of enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims.
  • Provide support for participants of the 401k plan. Coordinate processing of rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
  • Assist with the annual 401k audit and testing.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
  • Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits team.
  • Review both short- and long-range cost estimates / projections and relevant statistical analyses regarding modifications in benefits programs and implementation of new programs.
  • Survey industry trends. Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results. Analyze complex benefits information. Forecast trends and assist with future benefits designs. Develop specific recommendations for review by management.
  • Recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding.
  • Assist clients and employees with healthy, dental, life, and other related benefit claims
  • Conduct benefit orientations
  • Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Project and team management / leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment calls when required.
  • Knowledge of benefits language.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA,Section 125, COBRA and DOL requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a professional services environment and experience in payroll operations
  • FPC or CPP certification a plus
  • Understanding of multi-state taxation rules
  • Knowledge of UKG ready a major plus
