Job Title : Section Manager for Cherry Creek State Park Visitor Center
This position is section manager for the visitor center within the campground. The position oversees day to day operations of the office. This includes customer service, sales of CPW and retail products, supervision of temporary and volunteer employees. Management and use point of sales system and reservations for the campground.
This position exists to provide a variety of direct information services to the visitors to the park by working the front counter, answering telephones, replying to e-mail inquiries and maintaining current information on Parks and Wildlife web pages and social media. The position manages a variety of visitor center programs including front desk management, retail sales, group picnic / meeting room rentals, refund requests, revenue collection, website, social media lead and automated information systems. Acts as an administrative assistant to the Park Manager VI with an emphasis on accounting, purchasing, data entry, coordinating temporary work programs, seasonal employee time-keeping, special events and managing special projects. Provides marketing assistance for the park and works with local, regional, and statewide tourism information outlets.
Office Manager / Customer Service :
Manages the Visitor Center through planning, organizing and implementing programs including reservations, pass sales, registrations, and license sales. Point of contact and coordinator for scheduling of two meeting areas for events and maintains calendar. Manage IPAWS and POS with oversight revenue collection and accountability via implementing fiscal procedures. Resolve visitor complaints. Inform section managers of critical information and direction that can alter their day to day operations. Maintain and manage VoIP phone system for visitor information and park voicemail. Manage Park's website to ensure content is accurate and current. Manage all park and hunting / fishing marketing material (brochures and regulations booklets). Invoice, collect, and track all concession and other agency payments. Process specific special events / activity applications as identified by the Park Manager V, including photography permits, sport dog training permits, etc.
Supervision :
This position assumes a leadership role in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, developing work plans, scheduling, motivating, and conflict resolution for 4-5 temporary customer service employees and numerous long and short-term volunteers. Delegates routine and project oriented tasks. Creates schedules and trainings. Utilizes walk through management style to ensure program quality and clarity. This position may take (and / or recommend to direct supervisor) appropriate corrective / disciplinary action for temporary employees and volunteers.
Revenue :
This position works directly with park visitors to answer questions about the park and division. Sells all CPW products which include the following; park passes, hunting / fishing licenses, boat, snowmobile, OHV registrations, campground related products and overall management of the campground office / visitor center. Answers in person, phone and email queries for park and agency information. Management of the park's automated public information systems to include the phone answering system and emails. Supervises temporaries and volunteer staff in completion of visitor center and campground operations. This position oversees the revenue program for all sales that come through the campground / visitor center. They are responsible for of products, sales, reconciliation, revenue reporting and depositing of revenues. This position also makes purchases on behalf of this work location and properly reconciles purchases within US Bank and SARA websites.
Retail Program :
Works with other staff to manage this year-round retail program. Management of retail areas, determining needed purchases of items for resale within budget limitations. Manages firewood program for the Park. Performs monthly and annual inventory to meet statutory obligations and control of loss. Develops park policy and procedures to manage the program in relation to the other work units (maintenance and visitor services). Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Revenue Lead and CPW Retail Program Supervisor. Provide specific examples of regular, ongoing decisions made by this position related to this duty. Choosing products for resale that are in demand of our park visitors within budget limitations and space available. The Retail Area is made available to park visitors with the goal of selling products that will educate and inspire them to experience the outdoors and the wildlife that is indigenous to our area. Offer clothing and products that represent Cherry Creek State Park and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, with the purpose of transparent marketing. Reporting of retail inventory, requesting and overall management of the retail program within the office.
Clerical / Special Project Support :
This position is responsible for oversight of visitor center operations. This position assesses administrative processes in how this office functions. Oversight of POS system and campsite management with reservation system. Ensuring that all operations are in compliance with CPW directives and policies. The position continues to seek out new efficiencies to improve customer service along with supporting the agency, park management and the rest of the team at this work location. Special projects are also assigned or self-initiated when they are at the position's level of authority. Will assist in processing special events & activity permits. Negotiates with the applicant, assesses fees, insurance and restrictions. Coordinates staffing and operational issues with unit managers. Resolves problems, denies applications with cause and issues permits.
