About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Experience : Minimum of 1 year experience required; first-time travelers accepted.

License : Current RN license required.

Certifications : BLS, NRP, FHM

Must-Have : Experience in delivering babies and assisting laboring mothers.

Description :

The RN position in Labor and Delivery involves working in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities include providing care for patients in labor, delivery, and recovery.

The average number of deliveries per day is approximately 10, varying by day.

The unit includes beds for labor, delivery, and recovery, as well as emergency procedures.

Patient ratios are 1 : 1 for active labor, C-sections, and recovery of mother and baby after stabilization.

Care for laboring patients will typically be 1 : 2.

The RN will assist with cervical ripening and care for stable antepartum patients.

Skills required include assisting with deliveries, monitoring patients, and post-delivery care.

Management of non-obstetric co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension is necessary.

An exceptional team of providers and support staff is available 24 / 7 to assist on the unit.

This role does not include duties in the OB triage area for travelers.

Support on the unit includes CNAs, a receptionist, and a charge nurse who assists as needed.

Labor and delivery encompasses high-risk patients, as well as scheduled and unscheduled C-sections.

The unit utilizes electronic medical records and advanced monitoring equipment for patient safety and care.

Travelers may float to postpartum and other areas as needed but will not take patient assignments outside of Labor and Delivery.

Scrub colors and uniforms will be provided.
