Mental Health Counselor (Newton)

Job Overview

Asteroid Health is a thriving start-up offering mental health services in the Newton, MA area. We offer Psychiatric Day Treatment (e.g. group therapy) and General Outpatient services (e.g. weekly individual counseling).

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health and be skilled in various therapeutic modalities. This role involves but is not limited to, providing high-quality mental health services, including psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and grief counseling to individuals and families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' mental health needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical best practices.
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals, families, and groups.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques to support clients in acute distress.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with ICD-10 coding standards. Ensuring documentation is timely.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for clients.
• Provide support and resources for additional community services as appropriate and necessary.
• Stay informed about developments in the field of behavioral health to ensure the application of evidence-based practices.
• Work with client's from intake to discharge ensuring appropriate care (including appropriate admission and discharge).
• Maintains appointed caseload.

Skills

Qualifications

Master's Degree in a Behavioral Health Related field.
