Overview
Tomball Controls is hiring for a shop fabrication role requiring hands-on measurement, layout, welding, and assembly work. The position involves working with steel and using common shop tools to ensure products meet engineering or sales specifications.
Responsibilities
- Measure, compare and perform shop calculations to ensure products conform to engineering or sales specifications using materials, methods and equipment in the shop (including sanders, drills, air, and electric hand cutting tools).
- Material fit ups and layouts with steel.
- MIG welding as part of a team.
- Position and secure workpieces using hand tools, forklifts, etc.
- Inspect products / equipment for defects / malfunctions.
- Sanding and grinding.
- Breaking out steel.
- Steel panel assembly with bolt-together construction.
- Material handling / forklift.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent, required.Manufacturing / fabrication experience.2–3 years of MIG welding experience, required.Able to use power tools.Able to read a tape measure.Able to lift 50 lbs.Able to read blueprints.Able to troubleshoot and problem solve.Must be highly motivated.Able to communicate and work well with others.Read, write, and speak English fluently.Must have reliable transportation.Equal Opportunity – Tomball Controls is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
