Quality Control Laboratory Superintendent

The Quality Control Manager directs the general operations of the ADM Vitamin E Plant Laboratory. This position works closely with other internal Vitamin E groups including Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Safety, Environment, and Maintenance to ensure that production needs are met and laboratory complies to all safety, environmental, and quality requirements. This position also provides support to ADM groups external to the plant such as Commercial, Customer and Technical Services, Product Managers, and Research when needed.

Responsibilities include managing laboratory technician issues including staffing, employee rules, disciplinary, training records, etc. Providing reviews and feedback to technicians as needed. Directly overseeing laboratory daily activities including workload management, instrument functioning, and product release. Leading initiatives for various quality control and production issues including method development, comparisons, validation, and process improvements. Managing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment. Maintaining laboratory retains and museum samples, ensuring that they are appropriate for issues of customer complaints, recalls or withdraws, or commercial needs. Monitoring a data review program for all laboratory data generated. Providing mentorship for Laboratory Technicians to make sure they have the knowledge and resources to perform in their job functions. Maintaining laboratory inventory and miscellaneous supplies as requested by production. Performing month-end inventory assessments, OOS or deviation tracking, and job hazard assessments and providing laboratory performance metrics to plant management as needed. Taking lead in all OOS investigation including determining and reporting root causes. Working with maintenance and engineering, as necessary, on projects required to maintain lab operations. Working with engineering and production, as necessary, to aid in the event of plant issues. Contributing to customer and certification audits, as well as regulatory inspections. Assisting in customer complaint, recall, or withdraw issues as necessary. Monitoring lab spending and identifying and initiating cost savings initiatives in the laboratory. Championing corporate level initiatives at the laboratory level. Scheduling the annual lab internal audit. Following up and ensuring all action items are completed from the internal audit. Reporting food safety, quality, environmental, or occupational safety issues to the Quality Assurance or other appropriate plant management and aiding in the remediation of such issues. Adhering to the directives and guidance prescribed by The ADM Way. Supporting Hazardous Waste operations including generation, collection, movement, inspection, recordkeeping, and minimization of hazardous waste, as needed. Participating as an auditor for internal plant quality audits. Managing specifications and required testing for product release and in-process testing, both in TLC and in Policy Tech. Managing critical laboratory policies and operating procedures in Policy Tech. Participating as a member of the Food Safety Team. Authorities include the Quality Control Manager being solely responsible for approving data for product release. The Laboratory Superintendent will be listed on Certificates of Analysis generated by the Vitamin E / Phytosterols Laboratory as a certifier of the information provided.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department / team performance, and market factors. The pay range for this position is expected to be between : $70,400.00 - $131,600.00. The total compensation package for this position will also include an annual bonus.
