About the Role :

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control Project Engineer is responsible for the coordination, execution, and oversight of quality control processes during construction.

Your role is to help ensure construction work is satisfactorily completed and adequately documented in accordance with company and client quality standards.

This position is based in Climax, CO, and involves regular travel to other project sites in the state.

As a Quality Control Project Engineer at Moltz Construction Inc. you will :

  • Review project specifications and drawings for all awarded projects to determine client quality requirements and provide support for project quality planning and execution
  • Prepare and ensure quality plans, ITP’s, etc. are finalized and approved by project management before the commencement of work scope
  • With the assistance of project teams and administrative support, develop and maintain a document library of Best Practices, Work Method and ITP templates
  • Along with project staff, prepare work planning packages to support effective communication and training of field operatives in the quality execution of the work
  • Along with Project staff, prepare QC documentation binders for distribution and rollout
  • With support from Project Managers and the Operations Manager, ensure consistent and timely completion, storage, and distribution of quality control documentation through process training, process improvements, and audits.
  • Integrate with project teams in the timely implementation of corrective actions required to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Prepare and deliver periodic project performance / quality reports as required by the Manager
  • Attend pre-job meetings / sub-contractor kick-off meetings
  • Integrate with project teams in developing project-specific protocols and documentation thereof
  • Make suggestions on improvements to QA / QC program

Qualifications & Experience :

  • At least 3 years of construction Quality Control duties in the water and wastewater treatment plant construction is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in construction with demonstrable exposure to technical and work leadership
  • Proficiency with computers, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills combined with the ability to manage conflicting needs while ensuring quality standards and deadlines are met
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as a proven ability to problem solve with a solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, quality control inspections and documentation, and submittal management

Provide technical support and guidance to project teams regarding construction methods, materials, and techniques.

Procurement and material management

Negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships

Monitor inventory levels and track material usage

Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality of workmanship, and compliance with contractual requirements

Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to verify compliance with standards, codes, and industry best practices

Conduct preliminary, initial, and final inspections and evaluations of the work to identify issues, opportunities, site readiness, defects, and deficiencies

Maintaining accurate records of project activities and progress milestones

Effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential for success in this role
