Summary
Coordinate the daily activities of transit operations including all fixed routes, on-call, and employee transit services while operating multi-passenger vehicles as needed to support transit operations throughout the season.
Primary Job Duties
- Monitor daily operations to ensure employee and contractor compliance with safety, courtesy, and reliability standards.
- Track and organize driver logs, reports, and key performance metrics.
- Assist in driver training on safety, defensive driving, customer service, reporting, policies, and conflict resolution.
- Provide field and dispatch coordination, offering real-time guidance on rider volume, weather, and road conditions.
- Support accident and emergency response, ensuring safety and assisting with incident documentation with the Risk Manager.
- Oversee transit routes, schedules, and equipment; investigate issues and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with Sustainability and Marketing teams to communicate accurate service info, including routes, schedule changes, delays, and respond to public inquiries.
- Implement contingency plans for weather, route changes, equipment issues, and staffing shortages.
Secondary Job Duties
Safely pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations, follow planned routes, and adhere to scheduled times.Follow safety rules as passengers board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops.Adhere to regulations for operating vehicles including obeying traffic laws, and following specific federal, state and employer regulations to ensure safe operation of the vehicle.Conduct daily safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle and report any bus malfunctions or repairs needed.Keep the bus clean, presentable, and free of litter.Employee Expectations

Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.Hold a current DOT Medical Card or have the ability to pass the exam.Successfully complete random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel to maintain daily and seasonal transit data.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
2 years' experience working in transit or transportation or a combination of schooling and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.Experience in supervising staff, employee training, scheduling, performance, and daily operations.Knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations, transit practices, and operator scheduling practices.Work Environment
Outdoor : Work regularly in wet, cold, and rapidly changing winter conditions, requiring protective apparel and equipment to prevent exposure.May need to walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.Work outdoors often when loading equipment or riders, managing signage and parking.Physical & Mental Demands
May require bending, stooping, standing, walking, and moving items that weigh up to 50 lbs.Involves repetitive movements while sitting and driving throughout the shift.Fast-paced, high-demand environment during peak periods requiring alertness, quick decision-making, and efficiency to maintain safety.Requires the ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, communicate effectively with coworkers and visitors, handle stressful situations and upset customers, and completing tasks independently and efficiently.Special Requirements And Additional Information
