Job description

Product Development Specialist

This is a remote position. You will be primarily responsible for developing and improving products within our existing ComfyBumpy range - from new variations and designs to running change improvements, together with the Product Development Lead. You'll manage the whole end-to-end process, from idea validation and supplier sourcing to production handover.

Once the concepts are validated, you'll source suitable suppliers, request and evaluate samples, and gather feedback from the PD Lead, internal teams, and, where relevant, target users. Before going into mass production, you'll take the lead in working with cross-functional teams to confirm packaging, MOQ, lead time, product compliance, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

You will be involved in the entire product development process, working across multiple functions to transform the initial concept into a viable commercial product.

  • Work with the PD Lead to identify development needs within our existing ComfyBumpy range from new variations and design updates to running change improvements, and help build a strong product pipeline.
  • Conduct market research to identify and evaluate new product ideas with customer-centric approaches to validate the ideas.
  • Research, identify, and evaluate suppliers, communicate requirements such as specifications, costs, MOQ, lead time, order and evaluate samples, and select the ideal supplier for each project.
  • Coordinate with other team members, such as product designers, legal, compliance, quality to communicate requirements to suppliers regarding compliance, quality, specification standards to make sure final sample design and quality is as expected.
  • Work with marketing team or external agencies to ensure marketing related deliverables are done according to timeline and brand guideline, as well as operation team to ensure order placement and correct costs and MOQ.
  • Manage project timelines, keeping stakeholders updated and ensuring each project is completed and launched on schedule.
  • Review the performance of launches and running changes, tracking success metrics, sharing learnings, and feeding back improvements into the development cycle.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a product development role, ideally within the baby, kids or toys categories, with a full end-to-end approach from ideation generation, validation, to sourcing, sample validation, quality inspection and mass production.
  • At least 1-2 years experience in project management
  • Highly organized and attention to details, as you will be managing multiple projects at once with concomitant timeline & deadlines
  • Self-directed / pro-active & motivated to be able to make decisions and push projects forward each day, without always having clear directives from supervisors.
  • Good understanding of the Western consumer, as we sell mainly in US & Europe, and you will need to make product decisions accordingly.
  • Great communication skills and ability to work with various project stakeholders.
  • Experience dealing with suppliers in and out of China
