Responsibilities
- Assist Actuarial team by performing premium and loss reserving calculations, research, and other actuarial analyses. Provide data / analytic expertise to support actuarial services including financial reporting, trend analysis, utilization studies, rate development and claims liability estimates.
- Contribute in the design, construction, and implementation of tools and processes for assessing rate adequacy;
- Assist in the assessment of rate level adequacy for the Workers Compensation line of business;
- Develop data sets for analytics and reporting. Participate in predictive modeling efforts and recommend enhancements for analysis and company processes;
- Support the Company's rating plans, rates, factors, and pricing tools, including providing actuarial support for state filings;
- Contribute to production and improvement of reports for Corporate and internal customers;
- Assist with loss / loss adjustment expense reserve analysis on a quarterly basis;
- Perform other duties and / or projects as assigned;
- Actively pursue Actuarial A CAS credential from the CAS
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with concentration in statistics, computer science, data analytics, actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, business, or related fieldExposure to and a working knowledge of tools and programming languages such as Python, SQL and Power BI, an understanding of working in SQL and NoSQL database systems that are commonly used in BI Analytics, Data Management and Data ScienceBackground in Actuarial Science studies and / or successful completion of one examComfort working with and organizing large data setsFamiliarity with version control using GitAbility to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication enabling effective communication to all levels of the organizationUnderstands the importance of timely and professional responsivenessCuriosity and desire to learn and grow professionally and increase individual knowledge of workers' compensation insuranceCommitted to the highest standards of ethical behavior, honesty, and integrityAdditional Company Details
