Job description

Job Description : Research Lab Coordinator

The Research Lab Coordinator is responsible for managing laboratory operations and supporting clinical research studies through proper specimen collection, processing, documentation, and compliance with all applicable regulations.

  • Just need phlebotomy experience (3 years+), lab processing and vital sign skills

General Responsibilities

  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and compliance at all times
  • Follow institutional and sponsor standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Keep all workspaces clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained in proper working order and report issues promptly
  • Assist with inventory control, supply management, and restocking as needed
  • Study Start-Up Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the clinical research team to review laboratory manuals and package inserts for each study
  • Ensure all lab kits and materials are ordered, received, inventoried, and properly stored before study initiation
  • Confirm availability of all ancillary supplies prior to study start
  • Review and complete training on all study-specific laboratory procedures, manuals, and flow charts
  • Study Conduct Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, store, and package biological specimens according to study protocols, lab manuals, and applicable guidelines
  • Maintain appropriate temperature and storage conditions for all onsite samples, reporting any deviations immediately
  • Schedule and coordinate specimen shipments with approved couriers to ensure same-day dispatch when required (IATA certification required for packaging / shipping)
  • Print and file laboratory reports for investigator review and signature as applicable
  • Maintain access to lab portals, resolve queries in a timely manner, and ensure results are documented accurately
  • File reviewed lab reports in subject binders and notify study staff of any required repeat labs or abnormal results
  • Accurately record and maintain study data in source documentation
  • Track all samples currently stored onsite, ensuring proper accountability and documentation
  • Support lab-related study close-out activities and other assigned research procedures per the delegation of authority log
  • Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong phlebotomy skills
  • Experience in lab processing and sample handling (preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
  • Knowledge of OSHA and laboratory safety standards
  • Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy certification and / or relevant experience preferred
