Condominium Association Advisory Council (CAAC) Appointment

The purpose of the Condominium Association Advisory Council (CAAC) shall be to serve as an advisory body to the Mayor, the Council, and District agencies on matters relating to condominiums located in the District. The CAAC will work to improve notice requirements before foreclosure sales, to establish a Condominium Association Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, and to require that the Condominium Association Bill of Rights and Responsibilities be furnished to purchasers of condominiums.

Council Membership / Qualifications :

The Council shall consist of 14 members of whom 4 shall be appointed by the Mayor; One community representative from each of the 8 District wards. One community representative appointed by the chairperson of the Committee of the Council that oversees the Department of Housing and Community Development One community representative appointed by the Mayor The Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development, or his or her designee A representative from the community association management industry with at least 7 years of experience in the profession, appointed by the Mayor A representative from the mortgage industry with at least 5 years of experience in the profession, appointed by the Mayor A representative from the legal community who is an attorney licensed to practice in the District and has at least 5 years of experience representing community associations, appointed by the Mayor.
