Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center (CMTNCC)-Roddey Pavilion, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.
Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and maintaining the administrative duties in the office of nursing to maintain the highest level of efficiency in assisting the Director of Nursing in effectively carrying out daily operations throughout the nursing division.
Provides minimum administrative support to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Coordinates and maintains appointment Calendar for the Director of Nursing, to include screening and evaluating telephones calls, messages, and emails.
- Responsible for (17) electronic medication carts in downloading and uploading data, correlates, and prepares reports. Performs detailed maintenance / troubleshooting tasks on medication carts, and orders supplies as needed.
Serves as facility Video Conference Coordinator.
- Responsible for maintaining, monitoring credentialing records for agency nursing staff (RNs / LPNs / CNAs) as per facility standards.
- Prepares, records and distributes agendas and minutes for the Director of Nursing, special assignment Task Force Committees for the Director of Nursing Resources.
- Conducts confidential investigations and complex special assignments; prepares and maintains specialized records and reports essential to the daily operation as required by regulatory agencies to comply with licensure and certification requirements for the operation of the Nursing Office.
- Maintains complete and current criteria-based job descriptions and EPMS's for all Nursing Service employees assigned under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing to include personnel field folders and medical folders.
- Develops and publishes the Nursing Service Monthly schedule of meetings to reflect all routine and non-routine meetings with the division.
- Requisitions and maintains adequate supplies, forms and equipment needed for the general operation of the office of nursing.
- Develops and maintain a complex system for distributing and managing directive manuals, memorandums, regulatory agency regulations, and other pertinent information for the Office of Nursing, serves as resource person on directives and nursing policies and procedures.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements :
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Facility Minimum Requirements :
Five years of experience should be related to a Nursing Administration Office that may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Additional Comments
Physical requirements for the job are the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; able to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb at least two or three flights of stairs.
Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in resident areas for long periods. Must be able to work repetitive unusual resident behaviors.
