A company is looking for a Coder I to assign codes to diagnoses and procedures remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 for various medical encounters
Research medical necessity as needed and maintain knowledge of Medicare Local Medical Review Policy (LMRPs)
Work under minimal supervision while ensuring coding accuracy for outpatient and emergency room records
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
High School Diploma or GED with coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, or related fields
Six months of acute care hospital outpatient coding experience
Certifications required by September 22, 2025, including RHIA / RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC-H, or CPC
Preferred education includes an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management / Medical Record Administration
Preferred experience includes at least one year of coding emergency room and outpatient clinical records in a large acute care teaching facility
