JOB DESCRIPTION .
The Director of Port Operations will be responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all drayage matters within the organization. This includes dispatch operations, driver management, equipment management and the organization of schedules & routes. The ideal candidate will execute strategic planning and forward thinking to meet or exceed service level requirements of customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for multiple US locations managing company drivers moving 50,000 containers per year from US ports to deconsolidation distribution centers
- Work closely with harbor management while participating in port meetings
- Further develop and enhance the strategic business plan to accomplish the established growth and profitability objectives
- Manage and optimize utilization of YMS and TMS programs
- Work with current Management training and development programs to ensure a world-class logistics provider
- Establish best practices through Six Sigma while driving profitability through KPIs
- Participation and interaction with senior-level Executives of our clients
- Participate in the development and execution of contract proposals
- Responsible for the efficient use of a fleet of green tractors
- Budget and full P+L Planning and management
- Support and develop budgets for relevant departments
- Financial forecasting
- Oversee all driver recruiting activities including driver onboarding and performance evaluations.
- Management of the dispatch department including strategy, and KPI tracking.
- Understand and ensure the execution of all below processes :
- Accident and Injury procedures
- OSHA training and regulations
- Fueling procedures
- Pre and post trip inspections
- DOT compliance
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years Senior Management experience, specifically overseeing multiple harbor drayage operationsStrong experience dealing with harbor / port drayage regulationsMust have experience working with owner operators and company driversBachelors degree preferred, Masters degree a plus3PL Operations, Warehouse, and Transportation experiencePast responsibility of overseeing P&L transportation budgetFirst-hand experience with a state-of-the-art Yard Management System and Transportation Management System
