Teaching Assistant - Summer Session
Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current certificate issued by the NYS Education Department in one of the following :
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR
Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant; OR
Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate.
Requirements for Continued Employment :
Employees must maintain New York State certification as listed above in order to continue employment with New York State.
Duties Description
For a three-month period, over the summer session, Teaching Assistants will :
Provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher, under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.
Administer, proctor and correct tests.
Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview
