Position Overview
The Payroll Supervisor leads a team of specialists in managing day-to-day payroll operations for both US and Canada, ensuring timely and accurate processing while to maintaining compliance with government regulations.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Oversees procedures, day-to-day processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of US and Canada payroll.
- Manage responsibilities, provide leadership, evaluate performance of payroll specialists, and contribute to resolving errors and responding to inquiries.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Ensures that the operations and deliverables of the payroll team consistently meet or exceed organizational objectives.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and expertise of statutory legislation and ADP systems.
- Maintains clear understanding of FLSA, Complex Tax withholding issues in IRS.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvement methodologies that strengthen payroll operations.
- Facilitates weekly team meetings.
- Oversees completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual year-end reports and checklists.
- Prepare Quarterly taxes not handled by payroll processors and oversee year-end tax and W2 preparation for quarter and year-end close.
- Develop Time & Attendance Payroll Operational Metrics to provide insight into the day-to-day processes and identify potential areas of opportunity.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Collaborate with other departments / HR functions on key projects.
- Partner with Payroll Manager on key projects and resolve issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills We Are Seeking
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service, supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of demonstrated work experience in large volume payroll (5,000+ payees).
- 3 years supervising at least 3 direct reports.
- 2 years of processing Canadian payroll.
- Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.
- Must have experience with Payroll Platform (Workday, UKG, PayCom, etc.) requried. ADP preferred.
Physical Requirements :
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
