Role Overview :
The Intake Therapist is responsible for providing a welcoming experience and conducting thorough, comprehensive assessments with adult, adolescent, and children mental health consumers to determine service eligibility and accurately identify service needs and preferences.
The therapist must maintain acute awareness of available services, therapeutic activities, and supports that may benefit consumers and their families, promoting participation in these services as alternatives or complements to traditional treatment. Services are delivered in-office on a scheduled or walk-in basis.
Specific Responsibilities :
Conduct intake assessments to identify areas of need and service preferences; complete documentation within 48 hours.Gather and integrate information from all available sources including consumer self-reports, family / guardian input, documented medical and treatment history, needs surveys, and assessments from other disciplines.Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to assess consumer motivation.Provide consumers, families, and guardians with complete and accurate information regarding available services and supports.Assist consumers with initiating person-centered planning consistent with Person-Centered Planning, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, Self-Determination, and Medicaid Guidelines.Develop Safety Plans as required based on needs identified.Identify consumers needing extensive evaluation and facilitate referrals for psychological testing or discovery groups.Promote utilization of group and support services.Participate in scheduled clinical supervision, case consultations, and team meetings.Document all face-to-face service activity and phone contact pertaining to consumers.Perform within acceptable productivity standards; complete all documentation within expected timeframes.Respond in writing to routine chart reviews and audits.Maintain appropriate state licensure or certification.Complete 25 hours of program- or position-specific training annually.Maintain professional ethics and boundaries; abide by all policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Travel :

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.Possess corresponding State of Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, or LLP).At least 1 year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment to adults with severe mental illness.Obtain Qualified Mental Health Professional and Qualified Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Professional credentials within 120 days of hire.Possess CAADC credential or be on an active, approved registered MCBAP certification Development Plan within six weeks of hire.Ability to engage and develop therapeutic alliances with mental health consumers, families, and supporters.Expertise in helping consumers identify service needs, develop initial treatment plans, and transition to longer-term services.Nonjudgmental approach reflecting cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse experiences of individuals with mental illness or substance abuse.Effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.Must be able to work independently.Cannot accept candidates on student / work visas or requiring U.S. sponsorship.Additional License Requirements :
