Assistant Corporate Controller

Location : NE Portland - Hybrid flex

Salary : Base $150-175k DOE

Our client is a prominent, full-service company with over 30 locations across the U.S.. Seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to lead their GL Accounting team and oversee all related daily operations. Someone who is experienced in leading monthly close and managing a mid-sized team will be a good fit for this position. They offer an excellent benefits package and hybrid schedule flexibility.

Main Responsibilities

Manage the General Ledger Accounting team and all daily operations.

Oversee the reconciliation s , reviewing critical monthly account reconciliations.

Manage reporting, maintaining monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.

Help manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

Develop and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting.

Document and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures.

Determine the correct accounting treatment for various transactions.

Act as the main liaison with external auditors for the annual GAAP audit.

Coordinate accounting initiatives across different functional teams.

Lead and participate in various projects and ad hoc reporting.

Analyze financial information to provide management with recommendations.

Coach, mentor, and develop team members.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred.

7-10 years of experience, with at least 2-5 years in private industry.

Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and best practices.

Previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Highly driven and solutions-focused.

Independent problem-solving skills.

Experience successfully managing direct reports.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Ability to use sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
