Shop Mechanic I - Large Equipment
Position Purpose : The Shop Mechanic I - Large Equipment is responsible for basic repairs, preventative maintenance, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and deployment of machines in the rental fleet.
Examples of machines that they service may include earth-moving, aerial, landscaping, material handling, and more.This mechanic is required to perform the regular preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure that it remains in rental-ready condition, and is less likely to experience breakdowns on the job site.

- Key Responsibilities : 10% Administrative Work - Documents all work performed on tablet technology, including completion of work orders to capture parts usage and labor, performing parts inventory counts, etc;
- Checks GPS units on equipment and ensures they are activated and properly checking in, and troubleshoots with IT team as needed;
- Rescues equipment from job sites as needed 20% Perform Inspections - Performs aerial lift inspections according to required checklist;
- Cleans equipment and trailers 30% Perform PMs and PDIs - Performs preventive maintenance (PMs) on equipment according to prescribed schedule / maintenance intervals;
- Performs pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on equipment and trailers to ensure rental readiness prior to deploying to a store 30% Perform Troubleshooting & Repairs - Performs troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc;
- Changes wheels, tracks, and tires on machines and trailers; Performs maintenance and repairs on trailers 10% Safety - Follows shop safety protocol, including proper storage of supplies and fuel, proper disposal of waste oils and fluids, and proper lifting and moving of materials and equipment;
Safely operates forklift to load, unload, and move equipment and materials in the shop and yardDirect Manager / Direct Reports : This position reports to Rental Regional Manager This position has 0 Direct ReportsTravel Requirements : Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements : Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting / handling / carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Working Conditions : Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
