Job Description
The Speech and Language Pathology Assistant will provide direct treatment to a wide variety of identified students under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. The SLPA must have experience in a school setting as well as with AAC devices.
Scheduled work hours are 8 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm, Monday -Friday.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow and implement documented treatment plans as outlined by each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Document student progress toward meeting established objectives, and report the information to a supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Assist a Speech Language Pathologist during assessments, including, but not limited to, assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties.
- Schedule activities and prepare charts, records, graphs and data.
- Assist with Speech Language Pathology research projects, in-service training, and family or community education.
- Participate in team meetings relevant to supporting the student with identified special needs within the school or community environment.
- Perform checks and maintenance of equipment, including, but not limited to augmentative communication devices.
- Participate in the routine management / clean-up of the speech and language materials and therapy rooms.
- Collaborate and communicate with other team members of the educational team.
- Maintain continuing professional development requirement per the State of California licensing board.
- Other duties as required.
