Teacher 2025-2026, Itinerant Teacher for Visually Impaired Students- CYPRESS CREEK HIGH SCHOOL
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university and be certified by the Texas Education Agency to teach the visually impaired.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university.
- Certified by the Texas Education Agency to teach the visually impaired;
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred;
- Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess visual impairments and conditions;
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Required to travel both within and out of district;
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license;
- Knowledge of assigned subject;
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction;
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Terms Of Employment
Probationary / Term Contract : 187 days
Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
Additional stipend as approved
Essential Functions
Screen referrals for functional vision performance.Administer functional vision assessment, learning media assessment, and technology assessment.Provide direct instructional services with visually impaired students as outlined on the IEP.Order Brailed materials and tangible apparatus.Supply classroom teachers with equipment and supplies specific to visually impaired students.Serve as a member of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and participate as one of the appraisal representatives for the visually impaired students.Actively participate in curriculum development efforts, professional growth options, and appropriate organizational activities.Work collaboratively with the Visually Impaired and Orientation and Mobility teams.Counsel and involve parents in the educational process.Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities.Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and understand visual deficits in students.Perform other responsibilities that may be assigned in order to maintain an efficient program.Working Conditions
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
