About the Opportunity
We are seeking a mission-driven, entrepreneurial School Operations Manager to join the founding team at EC Prep. This is a rare opportunity to help build a school from the ground up, take charge of operational success in a new environment, and shape foundational systems that enable excellent teaching and learning.
As a key member of the founding year leadership team, the School Operations Manager will be responsible for the design and daily management of the school's core operational functions—including school logistics, student records, compliance, facilities, procurement, enrollment, and family communication. This role reports to the Founding Principal and works closely with ECS's network operations team to ensure systems are efficient, scalable, and student-centered.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving problems, and is energized by building something new and meaningful. The right candidate will combine strong attention to detail with a deep commitment to service, equity, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations and logistical systems to ensure smooth school functioning
- Manage procurement processes, school inventory, and vendor relationships (e.g., food service, transportation, custodial)
- Coordinate arrival and dismissal procedures in collaboration with the district
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student data and records across multiple platforms
Administrative Support & Communications
Provide executive support to the Principal, including calendar management and internal communicationDraft and distribute family and staff-facing communications with clarity and professionalismEnsure the front office is welcoming, organized, and aligned to EC Prep's cultureSupervise part-time receptionist and delegate administrative tasks as neededFacilities, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure that the school building is clean, safe, and fully operational each dayManage facilities requests, repairs, and vendor coordinationOversee compliance-related systems including emergency drills, safety protocols, and regulatory documentationSupport inventory tracking and instructional supply distributionCulture & Community Engagement
Model exceptional professionalism and service in interactions with all stakeholdersPlan logistics for school events, family engagement activities, and staff PD daysHelp foster a culture of respect, urgency, and high expectations aligned with EC Prep's missionFounding & Strategic Responsibilities
Co-create foundational systems and routines that reflect EC Prep's values and prioritiesTake initiative to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with school goalsStep into new roles and responsibilities as needed in a startup school environmentServe as a lead member of the school's enrollment teamManage enrollment logistics and collaborate with district systemsSupporting end-to-end enrollment initiatives, including promotional campaigns, direct family outreach, on-the-ground canvassing, and community networkingParticipating in and coordinating school tours, open houses, and enrollment eventsManaging enrollment-related administrative tasks and collaborating with the city and district on enrollment policies and systemsQualifications
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant fieldAt least 3–5 years of experience in school operations, office management, or administrative support requiredDemonstrated experience managing complex systems, logistics, and workflows with a high degree of organization and follow-throughComfort using data systems and technology platforms (e.g., PowerSchool, Excel, Google Workspace); able to quickly learn new toolsCommitment to educational equity and deep alignment with the mission and values of ECS and EC Prep, including a resolute and unshakable belief in the potential of every student to learn, grow and achieve at a high levelA strong sense of reflection and personal accountability for student and stakeholder growth, achievement and overall experienceStrong organizational and time management skillsPreferred Qualifications

Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual's skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
The salary range for the Founding Operations Manager position is $50,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience and qualification, reflective of the responsibilities and expertise needed to succeed in this position. Final salary may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications.
