Database Engineer I

Overview

This position provides daily production support for software and hardware infrastructure related to database technologies. Utilizes technical proficiency to support database infrastructure for the Bank's sales, service, and corporate support applications. Implements, upgrades, and tests technical systems. Resolves technical issues reported by users or system alerts. Facilitates operational excellence and systems efficiency, providing continuous service both through daily activities and through on-call rotation for after hours support.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support - Provides daily support for technical systems that execute business applications. Configures, installs, and upgrades systems. Identifies and resolves technical issues as they arise. Responsible for administration, communication, and documentation throughout technical support activities. May assist in managing technical projects.
• Data Security - Responsible for the security, management, and recovery of the Bank's distributed data assets.
• System Testing - Performs daily testing and monitoring to ensure all applications dependent on the infrastructure function without issues. May assist in automating tasks or tests.
• Technical Proficiency - Maintains a strong knowledge base of software, hardware, and related database infrastructure through ongoing research. Communicates effective and clear technical information to associates and management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Technical business applications and data security OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Technical business applications and data security

Preferred Education : Bachelor's DegreePreferred Area of Study : Relational DatabasesPreferred Area of Experience : Financial sectorLicense or Certification Type : Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Preferred, IBM Certification Preferred, Oracle Certification PreferredSkill(s) : Understanding of relational database constructs, High availability design of databases, Structured query language, Familiarity of multiple database platforms (for example, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Netezza, etc.)., Familiarity with various tools or utilities used in supporting database platforms (Commvault, TOAD, DBVisualizer, Idera, Solarwinds, etc), Experience in supporting environments with 24x7 on call in a corporate workplace is a plus as is experience in the financial sector.
