Position Summary

Under general supervision and per established policies and procedures, the FIG Paralegal provides legal and general support to the firm's attorneys and clients. Must be familiar with and adhere to the firm’s policies and guidelines. Maintains positive relationships with attorneys (both internal and external), support staff, clients, and vendors. Ensures confidentiality of client and firm matters.

This position is not limited to the functions and skills listed in this description and responsibilities may be revised as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Ability to maintain and organize documentation, including discovery materials, deposition notices, exhibits, and deadlines (training will be provided).

Comfortable reviewing pleadings and tracking case progress to ensure deadlines are met.

Willingness to assist with managing discovery files, deposition schedules, and related materials.

Basic understanding of how to track case status and upcoming deadlines.

Familiarity with legal databases and litigation software; Microsoft Excel knowledge required (additional software skills are a plus).

Ability to assist attorneys and paralegals in drafting documents, correspondence, motions, and pleadings.

Eager to learn and assist with trial preparation and provide support during trials.

Capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and meeting deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.

Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules is a plus.

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.

Requirements

Education : Bachelor’s degree required. A paralegal certificate is preferred, but not necessary for applicants who are eager to learn and grow within the firm.

Experience : 1-3 years’ experience in a law firm is required, though experience in a legal environment is a plus.

Skills :

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Well-organized, able to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively. Strong organizational skills with a focus on case and project management.

Self-motivated and capable of working independently, with flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.

Proactive and solution-oriented, demonstrating good judgment and initiative.

Must have keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities and solutions-oriented thinking.

Ability to work under pressure with composure and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Ability to use independent judgment and discretion and adapt to changing work situations.

Equipment To Be Used : Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax, machine, copier, scanner, etc.

Essential Job Functions :

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged use of hands, fingers, and wrists, including extensive computer use.

Proficiency in using technology, including computers, telecommunication devices, and other office equipment.

Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet business demands

Working Conditions : This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three full days per week in the office. Specific scheduling details will be discussed with your direct supervisor. Occasional extended hours may be needed to meet business needs.

Pay Ranges :

This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.

This is a non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this role is $35.69 to $44.71, with an estimated annual compensation range of $74,000 to $93,000,, based on expected hours.
