General Summary : Provides clerical support and record keeping duties within the guidelines of Georgia laws governing the Probate Court. Reports to the Probate Judge and / or Chief Clerk and works with co-workers, state employees, legal professionals, and the public to provide court support and service.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Standards :
- Maintains Juvenile Attorneys appointment calendar, receives / screens telephone calls, receives and distributes mail, consults with attorneys, court staff, litigants, and the general public. Researches and responds to request from the Juvenile Attorneys including preparing correspondence relating to assigned cases. Prepare correspondence and court documents from general instructions as directed by the Juvenile Attorneys while maintaining confidentiality of documents and discretionary distribution of information. Schedule in-person and virtual meetings as directed by Juvenile Attorneys.
- Maintains Juvenile Attorneys' court calendar, including dates and time of hearings, motions and trials. Receives court calendars from Judicial Assistants and prepares for court. Responds to inquiries regarding those calendars, including notification of all clients. Tracks cases on calendar, monitors status and updates appropriate database. Performs various duties in the courtroom such as coordination of appropriate documents, updating client files and recording case dispositions. Updates statistical information with data entry into electronic case management system(s).
- Provides executive administrative support to the Juvenile Attorney in all court cases including : delinquency, dependency, CHINS, and traffic court. Responsible for preparing files for court daily. Copies and distributes proposed orders and other documents to the court, client files, and stakeholders within the court system and consistent with office procedures.
- Maintains the appearance of the workplace in an orderly and aesthetically pleasing manner. Ensures proper safety and security measures are observed at all times. Keeps Juvenile Attorneys informed of events and challenges requiring attention, works as a liaison between other courts, departments, and the Juvenile Attorneys. Follows all Augusta-Richmond County Policies and procedures.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Technical school, or equivalent level of education. College graduate preferred
Experience : Five years in similar position working in a court system or sufficient experience to perform principal duties and responsibilities required of the court.
PREFERRED : 10 years experience in the legal field.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Vast knowledge of Georgia laws and procedures governing the functions of the Juvenile Court.Familiarity with County and departmental policies and procedures.Proficiency in typing, filing, and indexing court records and dealing with the public.Mastery of operating standard office equipment.Good communication skills, both oral and written.Demonstrated ability to work independently.Certification : N / A
