We're seeking a detail-driven Estimator with strong technical and project management skills to join our metal manufacturing team. This role combines precision estimating with real-world collaboration — you'll work closely with general contractors, architects, and internal production teams to deliver accurate, competitive, and timely proposals for custom metal fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and production time
- Prepare bids and proposals for architectural, structural, and custom metal projects
- Coordinate with contractors, general contractors, architects, and engineers to clarify project requirements and resolve design questions
- Collaborate with project managers, operations, and procurement teams to ensure estimates reflect realistic timelines and capacities
- Use AutoCAD and related design software to review and interpret drawings, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability
- Manage bid schedules, track proposal status, and maintain historical cost databases
- Support project handoff to operations and assist in pre-production planning
- Identify cost efficiencies and value-engineering opportunities to enhance project profitability
Qualifications
5+ years of estimating experience in metal fabrication, architectural metals, or manufacturingProficiency with AutoCAD and ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprintsExperience collaborating with contractors, general contractors, and architectsStrong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneouslyWorking knowledge of fabrication methods including cutting, forming, welding, and finishingProficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP / MRP systems (estimating or CAD-based software experience a plus)Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
