Aerospace Engineer — Webster, TX
Part-Time Contract Position
This role is a 2 year contract with pay not to exceed 29 hours a week.
As an Aerospace Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical hardware systems for high-reliability aerospace and spaceflight applications, ensuring mission-critical performance under extreme conditions.
Responsibilities
- Translate system-level requirements into detailed mechanical hardware specifications
- Develop and manage mechanical system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
- Conduct conceptual trade studies to evaluate and optimize mechanical designs
- Plan and execute verification and validation (V&V) activities to ensure compliance
- Define and baseline mechanical interfaces for effective system integration
- Perform and review stress, thermal, and dynamic analyses using tools like SolidWorks SolidWorks Simulator , and Thermal Desktop
- Ensure compliance with size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) constraints
- Author and maintain hardware specifications assembly procedures , and test procedures
- Oversee mechanical drawing development , reviews, and releases
- Manage procurement, manufacturing, and test of mechanical hardware to meet milestones
- Support safety documentation and present to safety review boards as needed
- Collaborate with electrical, systems, and quality engineers across project lifecycle
- Support additional engineering tasks in line with project goals
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field (ABET-accredited)5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in spaceflight, aerospace , or high-specification systemsProficiency with CAD software , such as SolidWorks , for mechanical designAbility to perform engineering calculations for stress, thermal, and dynamic performanceExperience conducting mechanical design trade studiesU.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card) requiredMust pass a U.S. government background checkPreferred Qualifications
Experience designing and testing hardware for extreme environments (space, thermal, vibration)Familiarity with aerospace / spaceflight design standards for mechanical systemsCompetence with SolidWorks Simulator Thermal Desktop , or equivalent toolsExperience with configuration management and version control of design documentationMoseley Technical Services, Inc. is an AA / EEO / Veterans / Disabled Employer.

What to Expect
