Job Summary
Under routine supervision of the General Manager, supervises and directs day-to-day manufacturing operations in the Steel Plant including planning and coordinating work schedules, establishing task priorities, and ensuring manufacturing levels meet established standards of safety, quality, and productivity. We have two supervisor openings. 1st : 8am-4 : 30pm and 2nd : 4pm-12 : 30am
Major Functions And Responsibilities
- Monitors the plant facility to ensure product quality, associate safety, and associate performance meet established company and customer standards.
- Performs various administrative duties related to maintenance of personnel records such as verifying time entries for payroll records and completion of personnel / human resources required documentation.
- Performs various supervisory tasks including conducting performance evaluations, communicating company policies and procedures, and counseling associates regarding work related issues.
- Plans and coordinates daily work assignments based upon available personnel after coordinating with Production Engineering and Production Control to determine daily task priorities.
- Conduct daily shift-start meetings to discuss safety, quality, and productivity issues
- Attends and participates in various company meetings regarding scheduling, safety, quality control, company policy, etc.
- Prepares daily shift correspondence to aid other supervisors and managers with production planning functions.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities between departments
- Maintains operations data to monitor shift performance / efficiency and charts quality items as assigned
- Recommends or implements measures to motivate associates and improve manufacturing methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency
- Requisitions materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services from maintenance and participates in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
- Trains and demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures for new associates or assigns associates to experienced workers for training.
- Participates and leads in annual Quality Circle presentations and Kaizen activities by promoting problem solving in a team environment, as well as team communication.
- Implements and follows good housekeeping / workplace organization practices.
- Assures associates follow work practices documented in the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Understands and works towards achieving operational targets for training, safety, quality, and costs while meeting production goals.
- Supports and implements TS-16949 and ISO 14001processes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics
Thorough knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture of goods.Knowledge of policies and practices involved in personnel / human resource functions.Thorough knowledge of TOPY policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, and customer relations.Excellent organizational skills for scheduling associates and establishing job priorities.Excellent supervisory and leadership skills including ability to direct the work of associates, train and instruct in operational policies and procedures, coach and motivate work force.Excellent oral and written communication skills for conveying and receiving information and data related to manufacturing operations.Good problem solving skills for implementing countermeasures to correct manufacturing problems.Basic computer word processing / spreadsheet entry skills.Ability to prepare and file reports documenting operational activity.Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.Knowledge of TS-16949 and ISO 14001 processes.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position manages 16 hourly manufacturing associates on all 3 shifts and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing some duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level on the job site can be loud. Additionally the job operates in a office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position does access the manufacturing facility. To navigate the area the individual will need to be able to walk moderate distances, climb a limited amount of stairs, and have the ability to communicate with operators safely. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 45 p.m. Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL
This position requires minimal travel with majority in the local area during normal business operations.
EDUCATION
Associates in electrical and mechanical maintenance or similar degree or equivalent experience
