Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic, technically fluent FinOps Lead to drive enterprise-wide cloud cost optimization and financial governance across AWS and Azure environments. This role is not just about reporting spend-it's about shaping infrastructure decisions, influencing engineering behavior, and embedding a FinOps culture across the organization.
The ideal candidate will be a hybrid between a cloud engineer and a solutions architect, capable of diving deep into infrastructure and application architecture to uncover inefficiencies, recommend cost-saving solutions, and implement scalable governance policies. This person will be instrumental in helping the organization uncover an additional $4M in cloud savings while modernizing how shared infrastructure is tagged, allocated, and priced.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Engineering, DevOps, and Finance to monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud spend across AWS and Azure.
Identify cost trends, anomalies, and inefficiencies using tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, CloudHealth, and QuickSight Cost Intelligence Dashboards.
Engage directly with engineers to recommend architectural changes and enforce cost-efficient design principles.
Influence infrastructure policies (e.g., S3 bucket usage, shared BPC tagging) to drive long-term savings and governance.
Lead efforts to deploy and refine tagging strategies that support shared infrastructure and product-level cost attribution.
Help bundle assets into customer-facing models with clear pricing visibility.
Own AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, including forecasting, purchasing, and utilization analysis.
Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, variance analysis, and chargeback / showback models.
Build and maintain dashboards and automated reporting systems to track cloud usage and financial performance.
Ensure teams have access to timely, actionable data to support decision-making.
Champion a FinOps culture across the enterprise, promoting cost awareness and accountability.
Identify skill gaps and lead enablement efforts to upskill teams in cloud financial management best practices.
Why This Role Matters
This is a high-impact role with visibility across engineering, finance, and executive leadership. You'll help shape how we scale and modernize our cloud infrastructure while ensuring financial discipline. Your work will directly influence architecture, operations, and culture-making this a strategic hire with measurable business outcomes.
