Purpose

To transform lives and improve personal and organizational effectiveness for the benefit of the UT community through counseling, consultation, training and other projects related to health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

Provide direct bilingual client services which include mental health assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling.

Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients with focus on problem-solving. Utilize professional knowledge and skills to mutually involve client in definition of the problem, goal formulation, and problem resolution.

Mutually assess with client most appropriate treatment setting and refer to community providers, UT resource.

Consultation with, training of, and assistance to campus leaders seeking to manage distressed or disruptive employees, enhance the work environment, and improve employee job performance incorporating an understanding of the organization, savvy about politics and applicable HR policies.

Areas of consultation include but are not limited to : workforce reduction planning, change management, work-life balance initiatives, threat assessment and fitness for duty.

Provide bilingual presentations to enhance mental health, wellness and workplace productivity such as stress management, responding to crisis situations, dealing with difficult customers, and suicide prevention.

Assess the needs of the community to identify and develop new training when appropriate. Promote EAP services to the campus-community through outreach.

Provide crisis management services through assessment of individuals in crisis and collaborate with other threat assessment professionals to determine appropriate interventions.

Provide guidance to managers in response to impaired and unsafe employees through the fitness for Duty process. Provide outreach and services to workgroups impacted by crisis or trauma.

  • Participate in professional, administrative activities such as medical record keeping, policy and legal adherence, participation in staff meetings, and representation of EAP in relevant campus meetings.
  • Participate in organizational planning. Incorporate client and organizational feedback and alignment with leadership and the mission of HR
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master's or doctoral degree in social work, clinical or counseling psychology, or other counseling-related field. Licensure or certification as professional counselor, psychologist or social worker.

Fully bilingual. Three years full time experience providing intake and mental health counseling with adults with varied presenting problems, ages, and identities.

Demonstrated ability to communicate cultural competency mutual respect and empathy. Experience providing individual short-term problem-solving counseling, treating clients with depression, anxiety disorders, stress reactions and serious mental illness.

Experience creating and providing group counseling and training. Interest in workplace mental health and wellness issues.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate effectively with a team.

Demonstrated ability to use tactical and strategic problem solving. Understanding of and adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Competence with basic computer functions and record keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in a multidisciplinary work environment such as a college / university, hospital or other medical setting, or residential / inpatient treatment facility.

Experience with EAP or other work-related counseling. Experience working with couples. Experience providing clinical supervision.

Organizational and political awareness and ability to navigate competing interests. Certifications or specialized training in employee assistance programming, substance abuse prevention, threat assessment, organization planning and development, human resources management, conflict resolution and mediation, or mental health counseling which may include but not be limited to : Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), National Certified Addiction Counselor (NCAC) and so forth.

Salary Range

$31,500 - prorated annual basis, 20 hours per week.
