Overview
The Senior LiDAR Specialist is responsible for tasks related to the production of final remote sensing files such as point clouds, ortho imagery, feature extraction, etc. This process includes all aspects of the field data collection from mission planning to the office portion of output of remote sensing files including final deliverables. The Senior LiDAR Specialist will be proficient in data collection and the software used through the remote sensing stage of a project life cycle.

Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter expert for remote sensing equipment, data collection, software with an emphasis on data processing, QA / QC, and feature extraction.
- Plan and coordinate aerial, mobile, and terrestrial data collection missions, including weather checks and scheduling coordination.
- Operate UAVs (manual flight as needed), set up GPS equipment, and establish ground control points when necessary.
- Perform post flight processing and QA / QC of geospatial data using appropriate software. Make recommendations of processes / procedures / software / tools to enhance and streamline workflows.
- Familiarity with software such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Global Mapper, and other industry software a plus.
- Communicate project updates to Project Managers and ensure deadlines are met.
- Troubleshoot and adapt equipment, software, and workflows to meet project needs.
- Maintain and update remote sensing equipment, UAVs, software / firmware, and maintenance logs.
- Keep up to date on advancements of industry hardware and software to ensure most recent trends are being discussed and implemented when applicable.
- Support and coordinate with other pilots and technicians to ensure FAA compliance such as : request UAV waivers, manage flight logs, upload tail numbers / Remote IDs, and stay current with regulations.
- Document and implement safety procedures and best practices for data collection, Processing, and feature extraction operations.
Qualifications
Valid state issued driver's license and clean driving record to meet company insurance requirements.High School Diploma or equivalent. Land survey and / or geospatial education preferred but not required.UAV flight experience and minimum six months survey field experienceAbility to interpret FAA UAV processes and procedures.FAA part 107 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot's licenseFamiliarity of State Plane Coordinate SystemsFamiliarity using survey equipment and data collection software
