Medical Assistant

Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for one of its clients in Texas.

This is a 35-week contract with a possible extension with competitive pay and benefits.

Location North Richland Hills, Texas 76180

Length of assignment 35-week (With a possible extension)

Pay range - $20 - $23 per hour.

Shift Availability to work any hours between 7 am to 6 pm Monday Friday

Job Duties

  • Perform all duties by clinical, OSHA, and infection control standards.
  • Interpret and carry out provider orders.
  • Assist the physician and / or associate practitioner with procedures and treatments.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measures vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature), and documents in patient’s chart.
  • Record patients’ medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by the physician or associate practitioner.
  • Document all patient-related communication and interventions in the patient’s EMR.
  • Update the patient’s Health Monitor at each visit.
  • Work on the GAP reports and recall list for clinical quality measures.
  • Utilization of CINA sheets
  • Prepare and administer medications by applying an aseptic technique.
  • Observe patient response to medications administered and report adverse events to the provider.
  • Where applicable, perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection by Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testing.
  • Maintain lab specimen logs.
  • Coordinate outpatient testing and referrals, as well as hospital pre-admission when necessary.
  • Scan all referral letters, x-ray reports, and lab results in the patient’s EMR per clinic protocol.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, equipment sterilization, etc.)
  • Prepare, restock, and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area, and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals, and as needed.
  • Take telephone and e-mail messages, as well as medication refill requests, from patients and provide feedback and answers to patients / physician / pharmacy per physician protocol.
  • Collect data and process messages from patients and the front office to physicians and associate providers.
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Represent the clinic as a professional. Treat all patients and fellow employees courteously and cooperatively.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times according to USMD policy and procedures and HIPPA requirements.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
  • Maintain professional CEUs by the state certification board.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the office supervisor, site manager, or practice administrator.

Requirements

  • Required Education : High school / GED or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of hands-on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or provider.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy skill experience
  • 1+ years of experience giving injections.
  • RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant or willing to obtain within 180 days
  • Active CPR / BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Electronic Medical Records (Nextgen and Allscripts)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor’s diagnosis of disease.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds.
